Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john deere 212, john deere 212, adjustment screws

Question
Hi there,
I have a John Deere 212 (new to me) with a Kohler engine that won't start.  Rolling along fat, dumb and happy mowing the lawn when it just dies. Cranks over but won't start.  I have spark.
It will run if carb cleaner is sprayed past the choke plate.  Took adjustment screws out one by one and tried to flush out the passage with carb cleaner and reassembled; no help.  Took the carb off and soaked it in isopropyl alcohol for two days and reinstalled, no help.
Fuel Tank is 3/4 full.  Disconnected fuel line from fuel pump at carb, spit fuel when cranking engine over.  I don't know what the output of the fuel pump is supposed to be.  Any suggestions?  It's a Kohler engine, spec # 4752254.  Underneath that Kohler foil data tag is another tag that says model # K301AQS, hope this data helps.  Any help in your area of expertise would be greatly appreciated, I want to get this old girl running again!
A pleasant day,
Jason

Answer
Well if you can keep it running by spraying fuel in the carb throat
then it should be a simple fuel problem, but you will have to disassemle and clean out the carb, If the fuel pump is pumping pulses of fuel, then it is likely ok.
Remove the bottom nut of the carb and go from there, clean every
orifice you can find, and look for beads of water in your fuel.
