QuestionMy LX188 JD mower is running very rough. It is acting the same as about 5 years ago when the dealer replaced the push rods (runs rough, low power, getting hot after a half hour of mowing). I was trying to find out how difficult of a job this is to try myself.

AnswerThe push rods are likely ok, or it wouldn't run at all, but you should check you valve clearances and change the oil and filters,
which is easy enough.
Youtube has several videos of valve adjustments, and you need to
know your engine's make and model.
