Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): BRIGGS & STRATTON INTEK THROTTLE, briggs and stratton, briggs stratton

Question
Hello, Briggs and Stratton 10HP Intek OHV Series 200000 on Troybilt
Chipper/Shredder CS4210 will not shut down when throttle
control is moved to stop. My model has no rocker switch. Engine remains in
slow like at an idle speed but blades are moving.
Can this be repaired by adjusting  the throttle wire(casing clamp screw)- and
if so- move in which direction? There is a clamp
screw on both sides of throttle control- stop/left and full/right. If this is not
the problem, where is the stop switch or tang to cut
the ignition  in the linkage located? Or another solution? Any suggestions
greatly appreciated.I am not a mechanic B&S 204412-

Thanks!

Answer
On the bottom of the speed control bracket there should be a little square plastic piece that pops into the bracket and should have something like a copper tang poking up or similar.  It should have a black wire clipped to it which will be the kill wire.  When you shut the throttle off, it should make contact with the little copper tang and shut the engine down.  If there's not contact being made, which happens when the lever gets bent most often, bend it so that it will.  If the wire isn't there, that would need to be replaced and sometimes the plastic piece just falls away.  These are what I would look for first.  If all this seems okay, let me know and we'll look for something else.  Thanks, PK.
