Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): PTO disengages on Cub Cadet LT1018, auto parts store, cub cadet

Question
Good Evening,

I have been having an issue with my Cub Cadet LT1018.  The PTO disengages after a few minutes.  It started disengaging a couple times but has become more and more frequent.  It will now go just a few minutes before it happens.  Any suggestions what could be happening or how to fix the problem??

Answer
Is your battery properly charging?  There are a lot of variables with electric PTO clutches.

Always start with a known good battery.  Take the battery to you local auto parts store and have them load test it.

Before re-connecting the battery, clean the battery posts and cable ends with a wirebrush...fixed a lot of problems just by cleaning the connections.

Make sure the PTO connector is clean.  Dis-connect and clean with contact cleaner.  Re-connect once clean.

If the problem still persist you should connect a multimeter and observe the voltage when using the mower.  I'd hate for you to buy a new clutch when the actual problem make be an electical component.

Start with the battery and make sure all the connections are clean.
Let me if this solves your problem.
