Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John deere GX75 riding mower, model numbers, solenoid

Question
I'm trying to get a mower to start consistently. One time it will start, and run great. But, if I turn it off it may, or may not start again. I've checked the fire to the spark plug, with 2 different coils. There is none, yet if I continue trying to start it, it may start. Any suggestions?

Answer
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, my hughes.net has
been acting up lately.  Without knowing what engine you have, it is
hard to say.
If your carb has a fuel shutoff solenoid on it, the wire connection to it may be poor, or the solenoid itself is sticking,
when you turn the key to the run position, not crank, you should hear a slight click, or feel it if you hold your fingers on it,
then wiggle the wire and see if it cuts on and off, take a look and let me know what you find, and let me know the engine's model numbers

Thanks
