Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): toro mower puffs black smoke, engine model type, engine numbers

my toro 6.5hp briggs mulching mower starts right up. it puffs black smoke intermitted, sounds like it misses. i think it runs rich and has loss of power, no adjustment on carb and has no choke. filter is new. recent tune up.

What is the engine model, type and code number?  Need this info to look up your carb.

Does it produce black smoke with the air filter removed?  DO NOT operate/mow with the air filter removed.  Just remove the air filter to test while the mower is on a semi-clean surface, garage floor or sidewalk.

Let me know the engine numbers.
