Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): weedeater pe550 edger, engine bolts, little hole

my edger is not getting gas.I just bought a carb but still not getting gas. I found the muffler is partially burnt,Could this be a problem or what next

If you say that the muffler is burnt, I would remove it and look
at the piston, if it is damaged and the rings are stuck, then it would not pump gas well, and won't run even if it did.
If all looks well there, I would remove the fuel line from the carb
and see if fuel comes out, the filter may be clogged up on the other end.  Also, make sure the mounting gasket is on correctly under the carb, that the little hole on the carb, and the one on the mount, and the one in the gasket, all line up together.  Also wiggle the
block, carb, etc.  Poulans have a few problems with engine bolts coming loose.
   Take a look around at these things and tell me what you find.
