Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Weed Eater Broken, walbro, homelite

Question
OK. my mom purchased a homelite st-145 weed eater at a garage sale we used it for a year then purchased a new one, now about 6 years later im trying to get it running again i took the carb apart and put sea fome in it reasembled it and drained the old gas put new gas in and tryied to start it, it started when i put some gas in with the spark plug, then when its running if i switch the choke on and off it will keep running but as soon as i stop switching the choke it kills.... any ideas??

Answer
Replace the carburetor parts.  The old gaskets/diaphragms are stiff and brittle causing the carb not to work.

You will see the manufacture on the carb, Walbro or Zama, and a model number.  Send me the model number of the carb and I look up which kit you need.
