Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): homlite pullcord retraction problem, stiff ropes, band spring

pulled out and would not retract, I broke unit down, checked it out, couldn't really find any problem, though it seemed like there was some resistance and when I loosened hold down screws of cord pulley, it was beginning to retract, like it needed lube?  Put it back together, after having to recoil band spring and reinstall. Pulled two or three times and then would not retract at all. Just like my initial problem.

Not sure which model you have but I have found wore springs that would come unhooked but would work sometimes.

Also common are plastic warped pulleys, hairline pulley crack, only visible when the pulley is under tension and even seen old stiff ropes cause the problem.

What is the UT number for your product?
