Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens Snoblower, snow load, snowblower

Ariens ST724  I started (manual start) the snowblower to empty the gas out for the season.  The blade is moving as if the handle was engaged!  I don't think this is supposed to happen.  I had started it earlier this month and left it running and I noticed that it needed oil which I added.

You pulley could be a little corroded, there is an impeller cable attachment that you can adjust this, but i wouldn't do it until you have a snow load to test it and adjust it.

Sometimes after a blower hasn't been used for awhile, the parts will rust a little bit which is just enough to cause the belt to engage.

Does this make sense?
