Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): carburetor, engine 143, float bowl

Question
I'm trying to repair a Craftsman 5 HP pushmower with a Tecumseh engine (143.975036) for a friend.  Took the float bowl off to find rust and decayed gasket.  The needle fell out of the carburetor.  I have the new parts. The needle (22-1434) came with an o-ring and a thin metal pin.  It appears that I may have to take off the carburetor to replace the needle.  Any tips on this repair?

Answer
Yes the Tecumseh carbs are common, I am not sure if the brand of
your replacement parts.

You need to remove the carb and replace everything needed, the tiny donut gasket and the bowl gasket too.  You also need to clean the main jet.  And the float too, if it is damaged.
