hi yesterday i was cutting the grass and stopped for a break. when i went to start the lawn mower again (which is about 16 years old) there was nothing, just a click when the key was turned. we thought it was the starter motor but since tried a starter motor from the same model in working order, but no joy. i have checked the battery terminals and even tried jump starting it but still nothing. any ideas? thanks!

Did you check the fuse?  It's probably beside the steering shaft near the firewall, under the battery tray if the battery is under the seat, or under the plate in front of the seat if the plate is removable.  Let me know about the fues and we can go from there.  Thanks, PK.
