Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): coil, coil
Questioni have a craftsman 7.0 ohv 22 inch self propeled lawnmower and was wondering if you had a diagram from the manual about coil location and tell me how much of a job it is and any tips
AnswerI don't have any diagrams, but it's pretty easy. To replace the coil you remove the flywheel shroud and the coil will be mounted beside the flywheel. It's attached with 2 screws. When replacing it, insert a business card between the coil and flywheel and turn the flywheel so that the magnets of the flywheel pull the coil against it, with the business card between, acting as a spacer. Then tighten the screws down and remove the card. That's pretty much all there is to it. There's a little wire clipped to the coil, be sure to hook it back up, that's the kill wire. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, PK.
