I need to replace the carburetor on a 5.5 hp briggs engine(too corroded to clean), but lost the owner's manual.  I know this sounds stupid, but is the model number stamped on the engine anywhere.  I've looked online, but there seems to be several different models that are 5.5 hp.  I guess a better question would be, is there a model # on the carb?  There are a few digits stamped into the one I have.  Any help you could provide would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi Matt, there are not any OEM part numbers on the Briggs carbs that can bee used.  You will need to get the model number off of the engine.  Yes, they are stamped in on the metal shroud that covers the flywheel.  Should have a model, type, and code number.  Please get these numbers and I can find the correct carb for you.  I say we will have this in stock also.
