Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn mower engine on pressure washer, Briggs and Stratton small engine lawnmower parts discountonlineparts lawn mower parts

Question
I have a Troybuilt pressure washer. The engine lost compression after only a few uses. I have no idea why. Reguardless, I have a Tecumseh 2 cycle lawn mower engine with only a few hours on it that I thought I could use to repalce the Briggs. Both shafts are keyed the same and are the same diameter. I compensated for the longer shaft on the Tecumseh with spacers (almost 2 inches), but it was extremly hard to pull the cord. Everything lined up and looked good. I was afraid I would damage the engine so I took it off. What did I do wrong? Thanks, Alan

Answer
Hi Alan, the pressure washer engine has a heavy flywheel which compensates for the inertia required to run the engine. The Tecumseh doesn't. It will not work. Replace or rebuild the Briggs and you are all set.  If you decide to rebuilt the Briggs & Stratton we are a dealer and get you what you are needing.  http://www.discountonlineparts.com/
