Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): honda engine, piece of dirt, honda engine

Question
i have a honda 6.5 gx200 engine with a couple problems. The gas is leaking out the carb but i have taken it apart and everything looks perfect. the engine is a pull start and will also shoot gass out the exhaust. i want to get it running properly or make sure its worth fixing before i put money into it because it was flooded a while back. i also ripped the head off and every thing is sealing great to my knowledge the exhaust on it will need to be replaced it pretty tore up but im just not sure if it just needs a carb kit or what. if i play with turning the gas off it will start and eventually sound good but when i leave it alone it eventually dies. what should i do next?

Answer
Take the bowl off the bottom of the carb, and remove the hinge pin
that the float rides on and drop it down, as this is what shuts off the fuel and lets it in as needed,so this is your trouble area.
The needle tip may be damaged, if so replace it, or may just be a piece of dirt blocking it open.  Or the float itself may be cracked,
Take a look and let me know.
