Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): oil leak brand new Tecumseh 9hp snowblower, snowking, correct oil

Question
Immediately after starting two different, brand new, Ariens snowblowers (model ST927LE) w Tecumseh, snowking, 9hp engines, oil spewed out of a small hole in a plate attached to side of the engine under and behind the muffler. I returned the first machine and found the replacement did the exact same thing. The store suspects that the machines were overfilled with oil at the factory. I've run the replacement machine for 30 minutes and the oil seems to have stopped leaking. Dip stick shows proper oil level before starting, barely any on dip stick immediatly after stopping but back to proper level when machine cools down. What's going on? Is it safe to keep the machine?

Answer
Hello Walter:

>>As Long as the Oil Level is Correct when the Engine has Set for a Minimum of 5 Minutes After Use, then there are No Problems with this Engine.
>>The Oil will take a Few Minutes to Drain Back into the Sump/Oil Pan of the Engine and then you will get the Correct Oil Level in the Sump/Oil Pan.
>>The Sam is True for All Engines. The Oil Level should be Checked before the Engine is Started for the Day if Possible. If Not, then you Should Wait at Least 5 Minutes before Checking the Oil Level of Any Engine.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
