Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): early tecumseh, rubber head, fuel inlet

Question
Hi John:
20-25 year old Tomahawk chipper with a Tecumseh 8 HP(H50 65484N).
Found a kit for the carb that was mostly correct but had a small piece I've now found is the fuel inlet needle seat.
The carb didn't have one in it, float height was good, doesn't leak. Did I miss something or did early engines maybe not use the neoprene seat insert?
Thanks for any info you can give me.

Answer
Hello Mark:

>>Depending on the OEM of the Carburetor, Some Used the O-Ring Seat and Others Did Not.
>>From your Description it Sounds like your Carburetor was 1 of the First Ones that Used the Long Needle with the Rubber Head and No O-Ring Seat. Some Carburetor Manufactures Starting Experimenting with this Style Needle about 25 Years Ago.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
