Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro CCR 2400 1998 snow thrower, recoil starter, starter rope

Question
I own the above snowthrower built in 1998.  I have to replace the starter rope for the recoil starter.  Im not 100% sure on removing the outer shroud to get to the recoil starter.  Can you give me direction on removing the outer shroud to get to the engine?

Thanks

Answer
Rick:

I'm going to have to go off of memory here, so forgive me if the details are not exact.

Step one:  Where your recoil rope pulls out and the choke control is located there is a black flat panel. There are three self tapping plastic screws.  One on the Right, the left and middle.  Remove these screws and remove the outer cover. Once that plate is removed look down the handle bar on both the right and left side and either remove the screws or carefully pry the shroud out of the plastic clips that hold the plastic housing in place.  You will also need to remove the fuel cap.

Step two:

There are 3 or maybe 4 bolts that hold the recoil housing to the engine.  Remove these and you can remove the recoil assembly to replace the starter Rope.

PS... make sure you thread the rope through the starter hole grommet before you tie the handle on!  Been there done that!

Let me know how it goes...
