Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Front Wheel Drive Mower, input shaft, little fly

Question
I have a Craftsman FWD mower and the transmission has died. I have a new transmission to put in the mower but I can not for the life of me figure out how to remove the old one. I have removed the wheels, the little fly wheeland disconnected the whole thing but I can not "slip" out the complete old transmission. Any ideas? By the way the model number is 917.377132 if that helps.

Answer
With the wheels, belt and trans pulley removed, you should be able to rotate the tranmission down.  Once the top of the transmission and input shaft clear the deck, you should be able to slide short transmission axlw out of the deck housing by sliding the whole transmission toward the longer axle side.  With the short axle removed, tilt the transmission the opposite direction and slide the long axle out of the deck housing.

Does this make sense?
