Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kawasaki 620d s-19, cam lobes, push tube

Question
I purchased a 620d s-19 from e-bay to power a vac pump for commercial carpet cleaner. the #2 pank has an intermittant miss. I pulled the valve cover and notised there is a slight bit of play between the rocker arm shaft and the head. After adjusting the valves and running the unit the exhaust on that bank turns red and the valve gap is out of adjustment again. ( too much gap) Is the rocker arm causing this problem or is there another problem that ruined my rocker arm?

Answer
Hello Shawn:

>>Is this an FD620D BS19, FD620 DS19, FD620 ES19 or a FD620 FS19 Model Engine?
>>This Problem can be Caused by a Push Tube that is Bent or the Cam Lobes May be Wearing and Causing the Valve Clearance Problem.
>>Are the Valve Adjustment Locks Still Tight when you Checked them? If Yes, then
>>Loosen the Valve Adjusters Enough to Remove the Push Tubes 1 at a Time. Check Each Push Tube and make Sure they are Not Bent.
>>If the Push Tubes are Good and the Adjuster Locks are Not Loosening Up and Allowing the Adjustment to Change, then the Next Cause is Usually the Cam Lobes Wearing Down and the Cam Requires Replacing.
