Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh HS50 67270F 619B, Misfire

Question
Gap for a new coil I replaced the coil and spark plug and seem to run a bit ruff back fire once in a while I set the gap for the coil at .010 thousands of a inch is this correct ? Thanks

Answer
Hi Jay,

For a Tecumseh engine that is misfiring:

1.  Check spark plug if fouled or incorrect.

2.  Carb not adjusted properly.

3.  Valves sticking or improperly seated

4.  Incorrect spark plug or ignition timing

5..Carbon build up is excessive

6.  Improper valve lash or weak valve springs

I am not sure about the spec's on the new coil.  Best to check with the dealer where you purchased the part.

Hope this helps,

Howard B.
