Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs and Stratton Model 130232 Type T536-01, briggs coil, briggs points

Question
Can you tell if this older model engine has points and condenser behind the flywheel?

Answer
On your type number, that T should be a number.  You can look at the coil to tell if you have points or not.  A points coil will have a wire that goes under the flywheel.  A non-points coil will only have a kill wire.  The kill wire will be a wire that plugs into a spade clip on the coil and goes to some sort of grounding switch.  Usually on the speed control bracket.

You can look your exact engine up at the following link.

If you do have points, you can probably eliminate them just by clipping the wires to them and installing the later coil if this is something you want to do.
