Question
I am trying to find a replacement chain for my Homelite 240-UT#-10630B-serial#-0130104.I purchased a 20" chain from Loews and it was too large. Then i puchased a 18" chain
and it was too small.Pleas can you tell me the proper chain that I need for this saw.Or how I should measure the old chain to get the proper size, and who sells homelite chainsaw chains. Thank You Jason

Answer
Hello Mr Holt:

>>This Saw Uses 3 Different Chains, Depending on the Clutch Assembly that is Used to Drive the Chain.
>>The Chain Sizes are as Follows; 1- .375-6T (2 11/16 ID), 2- .325-8T (2 11/16 ID), 3- .375-6T (2 7/16 ID).
>>On the Drive Blade of the Chain is a Stamp that should Identify the Chain Size.
>>If the Clutch Drive Sprocket has 8 Drive Teeth, then the Chain is a .325-8T (2 11/16) and the Length is Determined by the Number of Drive Blades/Links (Rides in the Bar Groove and Clutch Sprocket) the Chain has. If the Drive Sprocket has 6 Teeth or the Numbers are Worn Off the Chain Drive Blades/Links, then
>>take the Saw to your Local Small Engine Service Center and they can Match the Chain to the Drive Sprocket. Once this is Performed, Ask them to give you the Correct Chain Size for the Saw.
>>Now All you have to do is Count the Numbers of Drive Blades/Links the Chain has and Purchase an Extra Chain from Wal-Mart or Lowes or Any Other Retail Outlet that has the Chain for Sale.
>>You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.homelite.com/service_support and Select Order Parts. Now Select "Click to Launch Homelite Catalog". Now Enter the Model Numbers (UT-10630-B) and Click Search. Now Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can View the Breakdowns for this Unit. Select the "Engine Housing-Clutch" File.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
