Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): belt burning, power train, model numbers

Question
I have Scotts 1642, the drive belt that runs from the engine to the trans. the idler pulley that runs on the flat side of the belt is also rubbing the v-side of the belt. The belt is going in opposite directions while touching this pulley causing the belt to smoke and burn up the pulley. I think I have the belt routed correctly. What do think my problem is?

Answer
Hello Charles:

>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers (Scotts) and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. *You can Drag the View Windows for Better Viewing.* Select the Power Train File. Then Select the Belt Drive and Idlers File.
>>From your Description it Sounds like the Ground Drive Belt is Routed Wrong.
>>If the Belt is Touching as you Described, then the Belt has Stretched and Requires Replacing.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
