Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs 7 Straton, briggs straton, sectional index

Question
I recently acquired a JARI snow thrower, engine is a Briggs & Straton with following numbers: 80302  953027  6206282
Any idea what year it may be, and where would I find tune up info.  This one is worth restoring to running condition
Thank you.

Answer
Hello Robert:

>>The Following is an Example of Interpreting Date Code 6206282:
>The First Two Digits (62) Denote the Year of Manufacture. In this Case it is 1962.
>>The next Two Digits (06) are the Month of the Year, which is June.
>>The Following Two Digits (28) are the Day of the Month. In this Case the 28th.
>>The Final One or Two Digits Designate the Plant and Assembly Line.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model (5 or 6 Digits) and Type Numbers (first 4 digits Only). Example: 80302-9530-27. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Select Sectional Index. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View.
>>I am Working on Several Instruction Files at this Time and the Tune Up File is One of them. There are Many Different Engine Models and Some Require More than Others when doing a Tune Up.
>>If the Engine is Running, then Changing the Oil, Checking/Changing the Belts, Checking and Filling (if required) the Auger Gearbox, Changing the Spark Plug, Cleaning and Oiling the Air Filter (if applicable) and Spraying the Throttle Control Bracket/Assembly, Throttle Cable (if applicable) with Spray Lube should about Cover a Tune Up of this Unit.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
