Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): cub cadet 2166, cub cadet 2166, regulator rectifier

Question
mower will not start, jumped started with pickup truck.will run with jumper cables on it.as soon as i take the cables off it shuts off.

Answer
Hello Ed:

>>This Problem is Usually Due to the Voltage Regulator being Damaged and/or Stator/Charging Coils Not Charging and the Battery being Bad. >>When you Disconnect the Jumper Cables, there is Not enough Voltage to Keep the Carburetor Solenoid Open. When it Closes, the Gas to the Engine is Stopped and the Engine Quits.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.jacobisalespartslookup.com/home.asp and Select the Cub Cadet Logo. Now Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Now Select the OEM (Cub Cadet) and Select the Model Tab. Then Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. Then Double Click on your Model in the Results Area. Then Select Sectional View. Then Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View.
>>1- The Stator/Charging Coil is Bad or the Voltage Regulator/Rectifier is Bad and Requires Replacing.
>>If you Jumped the Small Engine with an Automobile and the Auto Engine was Running at the Time, then the Auto Charging System Shorted the Small Engine Charging System which Damages the Regulator/Rectifier and Possibly the Stator/Charging Coil.
>>****Never Use a Running Engine to Jump a Small Engine.****
>>The Charging Systems Usually are Different and the Larger AMP System will Short the Lower AMP System (Usually the Small Engine System).
>>Most Stators can be Tested Using the Guide at the Following Site Addy; For Testing the Electrical (Charging) System on Mowers you can Use this Site Addy; http://faqs.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/faqs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3438&p... and Use the Link for AC Volts/DC Amps Meter Setting Chart. This is for Briggs Engines and Works Well for Kohler and Other Engine OEMs.
>>2- The Battery is Bad and Requires Replacing.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
