Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda EX1000 Governor Problem, honda ex1000, arinet

Question
My buddy has an old Honda EX1000 that runs great, but won't idle up when something is plugged into it. I've cleaned out the carb and it idles fine and I can manually open the throttle and the engine will rev up just fine, but when it's idling and needs power it just kind of bogs down and won't rev up to increase the RPM.
Any Suggestions?
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello Gary:

>>If this Unit is Designed to Rev Up when a Load is Placed on the Generator Unit and it is Not Doing so and the Linkage to the Carburetor to the Governor Arm Connected and the Springs on the Throttle Control are Connected, then there is an Internal Governor Problem.
>>Most of the Generator I have Seen Lately are Designed to Run at a Constant Speed (RPM) All the Time.
>>Are you Sure this is an Auto Load Generator System?
>>According to the Breakdown there is a Throttle Adjustment and Usually if there is a Throttle Adjuster, the Unit is Supposed to be Set to a Specific RPM and Run at this RPM all the Time Unless a Really Heavy Load is Applied to the Generator.
>>I Suggest you Turn Up the RPMs a Few Using the Throttle Adjuster.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower/Engine at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram... and Select the Catalog American Honda. Select the Generator File.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
