Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere L130, Engine Stalls

Question
My John Deere sat for about a month. Now it starts and runs fine, but when I take my foot off of the brake, it stalls. We have checked everything we could think of, but can't figure out why it stalls. Please advise.

Answer
Hi Polly,

Make sure the gas/oil mix is correct.  Ensure that the tank is at least half full with gas.  Gheck > the fuel is reaching the carburetor.  The line is not kinked , plugged or obstructed in any way.

> Air filter is clean.

>  Check the gas cap and see if the vent to see if it is plugged.

>  Check that the carb is working to specifications.   Adjust up or down

possibly the idle speed is set too low.

>  Engine ignition points might be out of alignment of corroded with build-up. Check.

This would be a good list of starting checks

Hope this helps.
