Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): no spark, trouble shooting guide, magnet field

Question
hi, i have a tecumseh 2 cycle snow blower engine with a solid state magneto/module and no spark. tried a few spark plugs and spark tester...no spark. checked kill wire for shorts to ground. 0k. removed kill wire and still no spark. i was grounding the threaded end of the spark plug. the magnet on the flywheel looks good and has a strong magnetic pull.
i just replaced the magneto/coil with a new tecumseh factory part and am still getting no spark. any suggestions? the kill wire is not hooked up. also tried a few different air gap settings from spec to lower and higher. - still no spark. is it common to get defective new coils on this model.
thanks

Answer
Hello Robert:

>>Is the Ign Coil Mounted Correctly. Some of these Ign Coils can be Mounted Upside Down and they will Not Work.
>>Look at the Ign Coil. Can you See Writing that Says, "This Side Out/Up? If No, then Reverse the Ign Coil and Check for Fire.
>>If you Reverse the Ign Coil and Still have No Fire to the Spark Plug, then the New Ign Coil is Bad.
>>It is Not Uncommon to get New Ign Coils that are Bad Right Out of the Box. It Happens to me All the Time.
>>A Good Coil will Fire a Plug Anytime a Magnet Field is Passed by the Ign Coils Pickups.
