Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Noma SnowThrower, hp model, breaking the chain

Question
QUESTION: Hi John, I have a Noma 10 hp model 627104x8 s/n s005444760823, my issue was the smaller gear on the jack assy had a broken spoke, I ordered a new Jack assy and installed it but after a couple of passes the tires locked up,I removed bottom cover to see that the Jack assy was twisted and the top gear chain was snagged on a piece of the frame. I disassembled and reassembled to have the same thing happen, any ideas????   Thanks

ANSWER: Hello Rob:

>>Did you Replace the Chain when you Replaced the Jack Assy?
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the N. Then Select NOMA. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Select the Enter the Model Numbers 627104x8. Now Select your Model for Online Viewing.
>>Usually the Problem you Described is Due to a Stretched Chain Riding Up the Teeth on the Jackshaft Assy and Binding or Breaking the Chain.
>>I Usually Suggest the Chain be Replaced whenever the Jackshaft Assy is Replaced on these Units. If the Jackshaft Assy Requires Replacing, then Usually the Chain is Stretched/Worn and Requires Replacing or the Problem you Described will Occur.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: HI John, I did not, I will look at replacing that, should both be repaced  part 334163MA and  579867MA ? also do you think the retainers need/should  be swapped 334163MA ?

Answer
Hello Again Rob:

>>Sorry for the Delay.
>> I Always Suggest on this Style Unit that the Chain and Sprockets be Replaced as a Unit. There is Not Adjustment and when the Sprocket is Worn the Chain is Usually Worn and Stretched to the Point you have the Problems you are Having when Just Replacing 1 Item.
>>If the Bearing Retainer (#334163) is Damaged and is Not Holding the Outer Bearing Race Tightly, then it Must be Replaced.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
