Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 08 Honda Rancher 420 4x4, honda rancher 420, question thanks

Question
QUESTION: Hello Experts,

I have a rancher 420 was riding on trail and then went in a whole and my four-wheeler went under it muffler and all never died but it was not at full idle and was starting to stall. I have changed the oil 2x is there any thing else that i need to do or that would help me identify water in the engine i checked the air box and a small amount was in there but not up to the air-filter. Changed oil filter also. Its not smoking or nothing seems to be running fine but was still worried its brand new not even 5hrs on it.

Thanks,

Cory

ANSWER: Hello Cory:

Welcome to the World of 4 Wheelin. LOL. You have No Worries. It is Better to be Safe than Sorry is what I was Always Told. You really Did Not have to Do Anything to the Engine. Clean the ATV when you are Finished Riding for the Day. Then Do a Visiual Check to Make Sure Everything is in Place and Nothing (Bolts mostly) is Missing or Loose. These Engine are Designed to Go Under Water and Mud to a Certain Depth and Not get Any of the Water or Mud Into the Crankcase During Operation. If the Engine Sets in the Mud or Water for Any Length of Time (running or not), then it is Better to Drain and Check the Oil. I Hope you Enjoy your Experiences with the ATV.
