Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): toro powerlite e will not shut off, toro powerlite, spec numbers

Question
i have a toro powerlite e snowblower that will no longer shut off with the switch(key) i have diconnected the switch and tried grounding the wires and it still keeps running

Answer
Hello Mike:

From your Description it Sounds like the Ign Coil Grounding Wire has Broken or has Slipped Off the Coil Grounding Lug. Remove the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) and Check the Wire that is Connected to the Coil. If this Wire is Broken or is Not Connected, then the Engine will Not Shut Off with the Key or when Grounding the Wires Due to the Wire Not being Connected to the Coil Grounding Lug. A Coil is Grounded on Both Sides. 1 Side of the Coil is Grounded when the Coil is Mounted and the Lug on the Coil is the Other Ground. With 1 Side Grounded the Coil Fires the Plug. When the Other Side is Grounded, the Coil Stops Firing the Plug. Some Units have the Shut Off Wire Going to the Throttle Control Bracket and then to the Coil. Others have the Shut Off Wire Going Straight to the Coil. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
