Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): small engine repair business, foley belsaw course, repair turnaround time

Question
I have been out of work for a year now, an i am thinking of starting a small engine repair business and taking the Foley Belsaw course, is this a good course or is there one better? There is not many small engine repair businesses where i live, i have talked to some of them and they are all busy, can a small engine repair business survive in this economy?

Answer
Hello Dave:

That is a Fairly Good Course. If you have the Start Up Funds, you should have No Problems making a Small Engine Repair Business Survive. At the present Time it would be Best if you Keep your Overhead as Low as Possible. Keep the Minimum Amount of Stock on Hand and Use Only the Personnel Required to Keep the Equipment Repair Turnaround Time to a Minimum. I Keep Only the Most Common Parts that are Used on a Daily or Weekly Basis in Stock. Other Parts are Usually Delivered in 2 Days. The Shop is Not making a Fortune, but it am Surviving and Keeping a Few People Working. If you Wish, you can Send me Another Question Marked Private (no personal information is see by anyone but me) and give me a Contact Number. I can then Contact you Directly and Discuss the Business and Answer Other Questions I know you have. Thanks.
