Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): destroyed engine, engine vacuum, engine oil

can overfill  B&S v-twin intek engine oil begin series of problems that can lead to
a destroyed engine. the engine did not use oil.but after over fill smoked badly  
and quickly ran out of oil destroying the engine. please explain

Answer
The overfill of oil actually causes less lubrication because the oil can not circulate in the engine.  Overfilling is just as bad as not filling with oil.  Overfilling will also reduce engine vacuum causing the engine to consume oil.

How long did you run the engine with too much oil?  Will the engine still turn?   Does if have any compression?
