Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Oil discharging from Oil Vent hose on Tecumseh snowking, craftsman snowthrower, crankcase oil

Question
Hello I have sear's craftsman snowthrower with a tecumseh Electric start 5.5 HP Snow King engine model # LH195SP Spec 67514D.

I changed the oil prior to the winter season and had used the snow thrower several times already this year. We had a very heavy snow and I was using the Snowthrower when the wheels stopped turning. I noticed oil running down the side of the Snowthrower. I found the cause to be that the oil had gotten onto the V-belt drive. So I cleaned the belts up and checked the oil level which appeared to be low. I added oil and let it set overnight. This morning when I started the engine it began shooting oil out of the oil vent hose. I stopped the engine and checked the oil. The remaining oil on the dipstick appeared to be foamy.

What can cause oil to shoot out of the oil vent hose. Could the only reason be due to overfilling? Or could something internal be wrong.

Thanks for any help that you can give me.

Answer
Hello Steve:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers LH195SP-67514D. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. This Problem can be Caused by 1 of the Following; 1- the Crankcase Breather Requires Cleaning or the Gasket is Bad. 2- the Carburetor Float Needle Valve is Not Seating Correctly and the Gas is Flooding the Crankcase. This Contaminates the Crankcase Oil Also. Install and Use a Manual Cut Off Valve and Cut Off the Gas Flow whenever the Unit is Not being Used. 3- The Compression Rings are Stuck/Worn Out and are Not Expanding with the Cylinder. This Creates More Blow By than Normal and the Crankcase Breather Cannot Handle the Extra Blow By. This Causes Oil to be Blown Out the Breather Gasket and even Blows Oil Into the Carburetor Throat. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
