Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): MDT Snow Thrower Auto Chute, using a multimeter, rotation feature

Question
John - The 'electric chute rotation' feature of my YardMan MTD (31AH5C3F401) has quit. The fuse is good. All wires seem tight. Seems like it must be the switch itself or (a friend suggested) the motor that drives the chute. How can I determine/narrowdown the problem myself before turning to a repair shop? Thanks in advance for your help!

Answer
Hello Martin:

Using a Multimeter; Disconnect the Harness from the Motor and Check the Voltage going to the Motor. If the Current is Good, then make Sure the Motors Drive Gear is Not Jammed. If the Gear is Good, then Usually the Motor Requires Replacing. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Unit at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (MTD)  and Enter the Model Numbers 31AH5C3F401. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Now you can Select the Section of the Unit you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Good Luck
