Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulan Weed Eater Featherlite SST25 String Trimmer, needle nose pliers, car mechanic

Question
I am an car mechanic working on this weedeater. I replaced  the fuel lines and disassembled the carb. cleaned and put it back together. my problem It wont run.It will run on gasoline poured into the carb. So it has spark and compression. Is the primer bulb suppose fill with fuel or does it only pump air into the fuel tank(mine does this.) I grinded a slot on the adj. needles. But i cant get it to run. Maybe the diaphram needs adj. I need help. Thanks chris

Answer
Hello Chris:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram... and Select the Catalog Poulan/Weed Eater. For 2 Cycle Chainsaws and Trimmers, we Need to do the Following Diagnostics. 1- Did you Check the Exhaust Port and Muffler? If Either of these are Restricted with Carbon Deposits, then the Engine May Run at Idle but will Flood when you Try to Rev the Engine above Idle. The Following is a Basic Instruction File for Doing a Diagnostic on the Engine for this Problem. Any Input is Appreciated. **Remove the Muffler and Make Sure the Exhaust Port is Clear. If it is, then Try to Start the engine with the Muffler Off. If it Starts and Runs Properly, then Clean the Spark Arrestor Screen in the Muffler or Replace the Muffler if Required. 2- Have you Chaned the In Tank Fuel Filter? The Following is a Basic Instruction File I made for Replacing the Fuel Lines and the Filter on Chain Saws and Trimmers. Any Input is Appreciated. The Fuel Line is Pushed and Pulled (I Use Long Needle Nose Pliers) Through the Small Hole Until the Hose is Out the Fill Hole about a 1/2". Then Attach the Filter and Pull the Hose Back Until the Filter Lays at the Bottom of the Tank Just Below the Fill Hole (or so it is in the Bottom of the Tank and will Rest in the Fuel Mix when Turned at Common Angles the Unit May be Turned to During Operation. **Hint: Use Plenty of Spray Lubrication at the Small Hole as you are Feeding in the Hose. It Slides Easier.** 3- Change the Fuel Line Connections on the Primer. If the Primer is Filling with Air and Not Pumping, then Usually the Lines are Connected Wrong or the Pick Up Line has a Hole in it and Requires Replacing. 4- Until the Primer is Priming the Carburetor Correctly, we cannot go Further in the Diagnostics. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
