Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda Hs55 Snowthrower, arinet, american honda

Question
My 198?? HS55 only intermittently move forward in 1 or 2 speed setting. 3 and R work. I can sometimes get it to move by "rocking" the lever front - back before putting it in the slot. That is working less and less. There looks to be some kind of adjustment on the shaft to the shifter but I'm not sure what it does. What can I do to get it moving. Any help would be very appreciated.

Answer
Hello Ralph:

You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower/Engine at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram... and Select the Catalog American Honda. Now Select the Snow Blower File. Now Scroll to your Unit and Select it. Now you can View the Section of the Snow Thrower/Blower you Wish to View Online. Have you Replaced the Belt/s? Have you Checked the Idler Arm and Idler Pulley? What is the Condition of the Drive Disc (all Metal) and the Driven Disc (Metal Disc with a Rubber Outer Band that Rides on the Drive Disc)? If the Drive Disc is Worn Down in the Areas where the Driven Disc is Normally Riding at at Certain Speed Positions (like 1st and 2nd Gear), then you will have the Problem you Described. If the Driven Disc is Worn, you will have this Problem also. Using the Breakdown at the Site I Provided, can you Provide me with the Proper Name and Location of the Adjustment you are Asking About. I would Rather be Safe than Sorry and Give you the Wrong Instructions. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
