Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Relpacing an auger on a craftman snow thrower, hand auger, set screws

Question
I have craftman model 536.887992 and I need to replace the right hand auger (part # 1501196e701). It appears that the entire shaft needs to be removed in order to gain enough clearence from the auger housing to remove the augers. Do I unscrew the 2 set screws(part # 577400), to allow the shaft to slide out? Also, If I need to slide the shaft out, will other parts fall out during this process? Thank you

Answer
Hello Mike:

To View a Breakdown of this Unit Go to this Site Addy, http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action?sid=PSHx20080114x00001 and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. From this Page you can View Diagrams and Parts Lists for you Equipment Using the "View Sub Components" Section Near the Bottom Left. You are Removing the Gear Box and Augers from the Auger Housing to Replace the RH Auger. If the RH Auger is on the Right when you are at the Operators Station, then is can Usually be Removed when the Side Plate (Housing Assy) is Removed. However, Sometimes you have to Remove the Complete Auger Assy to Replace the Auger/s. If I Understand you Correctly, then you have the Right Procedure in Mind. Remove the Set Screws and Pulley. Now Slide the Auger Assy Out of the Auger Housing. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
