Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snowblower Electric Start, trouble shooting guide, electric starter

Question
I have an old craftsman snow blower and have just ordered a starter for it.  Until now I have pull started the engine.  I now need to figure out how to install it.  The engine is 143-697032 and the starter I ordered is 33290E, from the sears website.

Answer
Hello Laura:

There is a Better Breakdown for this Engine. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the S. Then Select Sears. Then Select 143. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers 143.697032. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. The Different Starters for this Engine are Shown on Page 5 of 8. Does the Flywheel on this Engine have the Starter Ring that the Starter Drive can Connect with to Start the Engine? There should be a Row of Teeth on the Flywheel if this Engine has the Electric Start Flywheel. I See from the Breakdown that this Engine had Several Types of Starters. One was a Wind Up Starter, One was a Recoil (Rope) Starter and One was an Electric Starter (110-120 VAC). You have Ordered the Correct Electric Starter (#33290E), but you May Require the Flywheel (#610845) Also to Change this to an Electric Start Engine. There should be Mounting Holes in the Block where the Electric Starter is to be Mounted. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have a PDF Site Addy that May Assist you Also. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf  .  This Site Addy; http://www.outdoordistributors.com/Tecumseh/tmain.html has a Link to a PDF Trouble-Shooting Guide. Simple Select the Free PDF Download for the Tecumseh Trouble-Shooting Guide. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
