Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): TORO 824, throttle shaft, main bearings

Question
I had just finish snowblowing my neighbors driveway, on the way back (next door) I no longer had power.
Starts up no problem, but give it gas, revs slightly but that's it.Checked Carb & connections fine.
Replaced Carburetor & muffler before the season started.
Could it be the ignition wire?
Thanks

Answer
Will be engine run or will it only operate at idle.  If the engine and drive system operating fine and suddenly you had a problem it could be a safety switch out of adjustment or some other type of dry problem.  I would also look at drive belts to be sure you don't have the belt binding problem sometimes other things can cause the engine to load up and not operate properly.  I would say the first thing to do is check the oil in the crankcase then start the engine If it will start.  Move the throttle shaft to wide-open in the engine should rev appropriately.  If it will not come up to speed and you have replaced the carburetor already I would work my way back from the carburetor fuel line fuel filter back flush the tank at the fuel outlet.  If you did all this and still are having an issue I would then move to the engine remove the cylinder head be sure the piston and cylinder wall are in good working condition.  If they are okay you would have to remove the engine drain the oil take it apart and check Main bearings and Rod bearing.  I think somewhere along this path you will find your issue .  my best suggestion would be to work from the outside in checking the easiest things first.  I hope this information helps.
