Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Wont stay running, wire tie, spark arrestor

Question
I have a Weed Eater leaf blower that will run for a couple of mins. then slowly stall out. If I rechoke it will start up again, and repeat itself. Also it won't run unless the choke is 1/2 on, if I move to the "RUN" position it stalls w/in 5 seconds. I have changed the plug, put new gas in it after emptying out old gas, made sure oil/gas ratio is correct(40:1) A guy at work said that it could be the muffler, they get clogged(carbon?)any ideas? Is this common? I have no model# but a Serial#01197N101420-2 & Family#1PWES.0249BL:EM, @25cc

Answer
Yes you could have a plug spark arrestor on the muffler that would be a small screen over the exhaust of if it is fair to try removing it and running the engine if this works you should replace screen.  If this is not a case I would suggest removing and rebuilding the carburetor remove the carburetor totally disassemble it and use a wire from a wire tie to clean all air and fuel passages.  Blow it out with carburetor cleaner or compressed air purchase a carburetor kit and new mounting gaskets from a dealer and install the carburetor kit for instructions that come with it.  Remount carburetor using new mounting gaskets lookup the fuel line and throttle and choke cables.  If you have not checked the fuel filter I would suggest checking the end tank filter it is on most of these machines.  Be sure you have good fuel flow to the carburetor.  Set your adjustments screws by turning them in until they likely seat and then backing them out one and half turns.  Start the engine let it warm up and then make your adjustments with the throttle wide open adjust the high-speed screw in until the engine starts to start then out until the engine starts to flood and set halfway in between do the same with the idle circuit at idle.  I hope this information helps you out good luck on your project
