Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub Cadet 1641, air filter assembly, cub cadet 1641

Question
I Have A Cub Cadet 1641 That Will Not Start, If You Use Starting Fluid It Will Run For A Couple Seconds And Shut Off When It Uses It Up, The Engine Is A B&S 16 Horse Vanguard. Fuel Tank Was Drained And Cleaned, Where Do I Start? Thanks  Harold

Answer
I believe your problem is in your fuel system and were I would start is the fuel cap is sure the vent is clean then operating properly.  Next would be to flush your fuel line and be sure you have good fuel flow if there is a fuel filter replace it their role be in aero on the fuel filter indicating the fuel flow direction be sure to install properly.  From there go to the carburetor if you're still having the problem remove the carburetor completely disassemble it and clean every air and fuel passage with a wire from a wire tie.  Blow out with carburetor cleaner or compressed air.  Purchase a new carburetor kit from your dealer and install per instructions.  Purchase new mounting gaskets from your dealer and use those when reattaching carburetor.  Check your crankcase breeder assembly and if it is full of oil drain it clean it and reinstall attach your throttle and choke cables and reattach your fuel line if there is a fuel shut off valve remove it and clean it or replace it fill the tank with fresh fuel and start the tractor.  Let the engine warm-up and then make the final adjustments.  Replace the air filter assembly and I think this should resolve your problem.  I hope this information has been useful if you need further assistance please contact us good luck on your project.
