Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda lawn tractor HT3813, honda lawn tractor, honda ht3813

Question
I have a "very used" Honda HT3813, ser. 5100657, liquid cooled 2 cyl. lawn tractor.  It has been running well until recently and now it won't start.  I cleaned the carb., checked the fuel pump (it is working), checked the gas for H2O, and cleaned the air filter.  It won't turnover.  When it was running, I noticed the exhaust smoke was kinda white kinda blue in color.  The reserve coolant was low so I added more but I think I may have a leak to the crankcase as the oil is somewhat milky in color.  Any ideas on what I should do? How difficult is it to change out the seal to the crankcase?  Thanks, you have helped before.

Answer
There are a couple of areas to check I would first remove the head and replaced the head gaskets you could be getting water from the jacket into the cylinder and then back into the oil.  The next place would be to water pump to be sure it is operating properly if it has never been repaired or replaced it might not be bad to put a rebuild kit into the water pump.  If the oil is milky in color it is moister and typically you will have light colored smoke when operating.  Check your engine breather to be sure it is operating properly.  I think that if you followed these troubleshooting ideas you will find the problem I hope this information helps you if you need more assistance please contact us.
