Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh hssk50 primer bulb, piece of dirt, wire tie

Question
Have a problem w/ gas leaking out the p-bulb for the first time (10 yrs) - stored dry - engine runs great - have the correct replacement (#570682A), was curious if there is just a tube connection, or a diaphragm that may be punctured too?  Interested in how difficult this is to replace, before paying a professional anyway......

Answer
A primer should be a one-way valve.  The primary usually pushes air into the carburetor forcing fuel up the Main nozzle into the throat of the carburetor.  If you have fuel leaking from the primer more than likely a small piece of dirt guide in the passage inside the carburetor.  The best way to repair this is to remove the carburetor completely disassemble it and clean all air and fuel passages with a wire from a wire tie load him out with carburetor cleaner or compressed air.  Purchase a carburetor kit from your dealer and install it using new mounting gaskets when reattaching carburetor.  Be sure you have good fuel flow from the tank and if there is a fuel filter replace it.  Back flush the tank at the fuel of the and clean the vent in the fuel cap.  This should take care of any problem you have with the carburetor or fuel system.  I hope this information has helped if you need more assistance please contact us.
