Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda Pressure Washer Engine, honda pressure washer, dirty fuel

Question
Almost from the day of it's original purchase, it has been hard to start.  It is getting a spark, however it must not be getting any fuel.  I can pull the engine to start it and nothing happens, until I prime the carb with fuel.  It will then start, but only runs for a few seconds.  What could be the problem?

Answer
This usually indicates a dirty fuel system.  The best thing to do is remove the carburetor and be sure you have good fuel flow from the fuel tank.  Next would be to disassemble the carburetor and clean all air and fuel passages with a wire from a wire tie and blow them out with carburetor cleaner or compressed air.  Reassemble the carburetor using a new carburetor kit and attach using new mounting gaskets if there is a fuel filter clean or replace it.  Attach fuel line throttle and choke.  I think the engine will start at this point leave the engine come up to operating temperature before using pressure washer and then make final adjustments.

You said in the start of your question that the pressure washer has been hard starting since new.  Have you taken it to a Honda dealer and requested warranty repair?  Unless it is fuel related it would be covered by the warranty honda offers.  This may be something that is also available to you.  I hope this information has helped if you need more assistance please contact us
