Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 6 wheeler ignition system w/ a 18 hp b&s, 6 wheeler, key switch

ok i have everything wired up and the motor will turn over fine and start but when i release the ignition from the start position to the on position the motor dies. the system uses a ford solenoid and an inline circuit breaker. any ideas?

Answer
Solenoid should not matter.  When you turn the key to the run position after starting the key switch must be grounding the ignition system killing the spark.
