Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snowmachine wont idle, compression gauge, ski doo

Question
I have a 98 ski doo tundra that runs great once its moving, but wont idle, and its more than just the idle screw.....i have checked the boot to make sure its not sucking air between the carb and engine, checked the fuel pump, i dont know where else to look? thanks for your help

Answer
Have you removed, dis-assembled and cleaned the carb with compressed air from an air compressor and carburetor cleaner?

There are mulitiple circuits in the carb.  The idle circuit maybe clogged with debris causing the engine not to idle.  On older machines low compression can also cause engines not to idle but usually this is coupled with hard starting.  Does the engine start easy?

Have you checked the compression with a compression gauge?

I suspect the proble is a dirty carb rather than compression.  I'd start with a good carb cleaning and work from there.
