Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 1980 kawasaki invader 440, carburetor, fuel filter

Question
I have a 1980 kawasaki invader and it will only stay running if the choke is on, if i turn the choke off it stops running.I was wondering what i would have to do to fix that, Thanks

Answer
To fix it you'll have to figure out what your choke is compensating for. Which is lack of fuel. The choke is in fact choking off the air supply to aid in supplying more fuel than air for the engine to run. Starting with the easier things first, making sure fuel is in the tank, making sure the line from there to the fuel filter is ok, making sure fuel is passing through the filter as it should, then that fuel is making it's way right up to the carburetor. If everything else is ok with supplying the carburetor with fuel, then your looking at needing the Carburetor rebuilt............Tom
